Dr. Warren Johnson, a member of the Board of Directors of Fondation Mérieux USA, signed the declaration on behalf of the foundation. As a member of the coalition, the foundation “pledges support for efforts by Haiti and the Dominican Republic to increase access to high-quality potable water and sanitation services to eliminate cholera and other waterborne diseases, and for complementary action to strengthen surveillance for cholera and other waterborne diseases, improve medical treatment and expand prevention measures.” The Regional Coalition “provides technical expertise on cholera control and elimination to the governments of Haiti and the Dominican Republic and is working to mobilize resources to support the two countries’ 10-year national action plans for eliminating the disease by 2022.”

Fellow members of the Regional Coalition include the Caribbean Community, the Inter-American Development Bank, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, Partners in Health, USAID, and the World Bank.
