The Rodolphe Mérieux Laboratory at the University of Health Sciences in Cambodia gains ISO 9001:2015 certification
At the end of 2023, SGS visited the Rodolphe Mérieux Laboratory, built by the Mérieux Foundation in 2005 and transferred to the University of Health Sciences in Cambodia, to assess the laboratory’s Quality Management System (QMS) and determine its efficiency and effectiveness in view of ISO 9001:2015 certification.
Following a full audit of the laboratory’s procedures conducted by SGS auditors over two three-day sessions, the Rodolphe Mérieux Laboratory successfully achieved ISO 9001:2015 certification, proving the compliance of its quality management system with standards and its performance in satisfying laboratory users and delivering reliable, high-quality analyses.
Support from the Mérieux Foundation’s Quality Initiative
The Laboratory achieved this level of competence thanks to the support provided by the Mérieux Foundation’s Quality Initiative.
This program aims to improve the knowledge and skills of laboratory staff in terms of quality management as part of a continuous improvement system for laboratories in low-income countries. The initiative has supported ten member laboratories of the GABRIEL network in ten countries – Haiti, Laos, Mali, Paraguay, Bangladesh, Lebanon, Madagascar and Cambodia and, from 2024, DRC and Brazil. The Rodolphe Mérieux Laboratory in Cambodia is the fifth laboratory in the Quality Initiative to be given recognition for its quality management system and the first to receive ISO 9001:2015 certification.
